BREAKING NEWS!!!
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is accepting Post-9/11 GI Bill certifications beginning July 6th, 2009. All Requests for Certification for VA Benefits received by the University of Maryland, College Park Veterans Certification Office will be held until charges for 2009 tuition and fees are posted to your student account on approximately July 17th. To facilitate your certification with the VA, the University of Maryland, College Park Veterans Certification Office has updated its Request for Certification for VA Benefits form. This new form should be submitted for each semester for which you are using your VA Education Benefits.

Additionally, the Veterans Certification Office is happy to present a Power Point presentation. This presentation has compressed and clarified some of the information that the VA has issued regarding the Post-9/11 GI Bill. Veterans who are eligible on August 1st, 2009 for both the Montgomery and Post-9/11 GI Bills may especially find this information useful. Please remember, however, that only the VA can give authoritative guidance on the new education benefits program. As such, it is recommended that all veterans review the GI Bill web site, send an email inquiry, or call the VA at 1 888 GIBILL1 for comprehensive VA Education Benefits counseling.

VA Education Benefits at the University of Maryland

The University of Maryland Veterans Certification Office certifies students based on their enrollment to receive VA Education Benefits under the Veteran's Education Assistance Act. The Veterans Certification Office serves a large group of students. To avoid delays in processing claims, it is extremely important to submit all the requested supporting documents.

Veterans are only certified for the current semester. Benefits will not automatically roll over from one semester to another. All returning University of Maryland College Park students must complete the University of Maryland Request for Certification for VA Benefits form before the beginning of each semester (fall, spring, summer) so that benefits will not be interrupted.
