   Mandatory Advising

Note that students in the categories below are required to meet with an advisor before registering or processing any schedule adjustments.

Newly admitted students MUST attend an Orientation program and will be advised and register at that time. Contact the Orientation Office at 301-314-8217 to sign up for an Orientation session. NOTE: All new students are required to provide documentation of measles, mumps and rubella, and tetanus/diphtheria. It is the student's responsibility to provide information to the University Health Center prior to the beginning of the semester. This requirement is mandatory.

Newly admitted students who missed Orientation will not be permitted to register until the first day of classes. All newly admitted students MUST be advised prior to registration. Contact the undergraduate advising office in your college for advisor assignments and an advising appointment. After being advised you can register beginning the first day of classes.

Readmitted or reinstated students: Bring letter of readmission or reinstatement when you register. Reinstated students MUST be advised by their Assistant Dean or designated representative prior to registration. Proof of advising is required. Readmitted students are strongly urged to take advantage of advising opportunities offered by colleges and departments.

Student Athletes must meet with an advisor prior to registering or making schedule adjustments. Advising blocks must be cleared before in-person registration/schedule adjustment or before using Testudo for registration transactions. This proof/clearance will be required each time a change is made to the student's schedule for walk-in registration.

Students in the Individual Admit and IED programs are required to meet with an academic advisor prior to registering or making schedule adjustments. Advising blocks must be cleared before in-person registration/schedule adjustment or before using Testudo for registration transactions. This proof/clearance will be required each time a change is made to the student's schedule for walk-in registration.

Students on Academic Warning or Academic Dismissal at the end of the previous semester (excluding summer sessions) are required to meet with an advisor prior to registering or making schedule adjustments. Advising blocks must be cleared before in-person registration/schedule adjustment or before using Testudo for registration transactions. This proof/clearance will be required each time a change is made to the student's schedule for walk-in registration.
