Undergraduate Students: Full-time status for undergraduate students
will be based on registration for 12 or more semester hours. Official status
(either full-time or part-time) for academic purposes will be determined
on the basis of a student's registration
at the end of the Schedule Adjustment Period. The Schedule Adjustment Period
is defined as the first ten days of classes. FULL-TIME status is based
on the following criteria:
- Registered for 12 or more semester hours at the end of the Schedule
Adjustment Period.
- Courses registered for AUDIT are not included in the calculation of
credits for full-time status.
- UMEI PROGRAM: Students enrolled in UMEI 001-004 are considered full-time
students. If enrolled in UMEI 005 (semi-intensive), undergraduate students must also register for 6-8 credits
appropriate to their program to meet the full-time
requirement.
Note: Students on scholarships and grants are expected to maintain
a semester credit load of 12 hours. If the registration of a student with
a scholarship or grant falls below the required credit hours, the scholarship
or grant may be canceled. Cancellation of a scholarship or grant without
subsequent payment of amounts due will lead to an indebtedness to the University.
Such indebtedness can in turn lead to severance of services by the University.
Students receiving financial aid are strongly encouraged to contact a financial
aid counselor prior to dropping below full-time status. For additional
information contact the Office of Student Financial Aid, Room 0102 Lee
Building, 301-314-8313.
Graduate Students: Official status (either full-time or part-time)
for academic purposes will be determined on the basis of a student's
registration at the end of the Schedule Adjustment period which is defined
as the first ten days of classes. Please note that students receiving a
private scholarship must maintain full-time status throughout the semester
in order to keep their scholarship, unless otherwise stipulated by the
donor in writing.
To be certified as a full-time student a graduate student must be officially
registered for a combination of courses equivalent to 48 units per semester.
Graduate assistants holding full-time teaching or research appointments
are full-time students if they are registered for at least 24 units in
addition to the assistantship. Courses taken for audit do not generate
graduate units and cannot be used in calculating full-time or part-time
status.
