MARS Waitlist Information

Using the Waitlist
Waitlisting with MARS: When attempting to add a closed course, and a waitlist is available, MARS will offer the waitlist option. If this option is selected, you will be placed on the waitlist for the closed section. Additionally, you will be prompted to enter up to five more waitlist sections. Be sure to use the section Index Number. Listen carefully, MARS will give information about the mandatory and regular Check-In dates. Make note of these important dates.

Waitlist Check-In
Students can check-in by using Testudo, calling MARS or in person at the Registration Center (Room 1101 Mitchell Building) during the Mandatory and Regular Check-In periods. Check-in may also be held on the main floor of the Reckord Armory at the beginning of the semester. See the Schedule of Classes for check-in times and locations.

MARS Check-In: Students waitlisting courses via MARS will receive Mandatory and Regular Check-In dates. If you are on the waitlist you must call MARS on this mandatory Check-In date, and daily thereafter during the regular Check-In Period to remain on the waitlist. You are required to check in only once a day beginning with your Mandatory Check-In date. There is no need to check in more than once a day. NOTE: When a course is received from the waitlist it is added to a students schedule the following day. Call MARS the day after you receive the course to verify registration. Press 5 # # to list your schedule.

Conflicts: If you call MARS and receive a course from the waitlist which creates a time conflict or causes your schedule to exceed the number of allowable credits etc., you MUST adjust your schedule by 4:30 p.m. of the following workday. You can useTestudo Drop/Add, MARS Drop/Add, MARS Kiosks, come in to the Registrations Office, or call the MARS Helpline. If you do not adjust your schedule, a drop will be processed on the course you received from the waitlist.

Waitlist Information
1. To be eligible for the waitlist you cannot be registered for any other section of the desired course. If you are currently registered for any other section of the course, you must drop that section before you can be placed on the waitlist. If you remain registered for another section of the same course at the time you waitlist, you will be removed from the waitlist section. 2. You may select up to six (6) sections of a course. The first section to become available will be assigned to you by the computer. Since you will now be registered for a section, your name will be removed from the waitlist for that course. If you subsequently refuse the assigned section, that section will be given to the next person waiting for it. You may, at that time, request to be placed at the end of the waiting list for another section.

3. Once you have been placed on a waitlist for a specific course you cannot add any additional sections to the waitlist for that course at the same position. If you later decide to add additional sections they may be added to the end of the waitlist.

4. Students stand a better chance of receiving a course by waitlisting as many sections as possible. However, when waitlisting multiple sections of a course, you should be sure each section fits your schedule unless you plan to drop the course that conflicts with the waitlist section at the time the section is received.

5. Problems resulting from courses received from the waitlist that conflict with a students schedule must be resolved immediately. Time conflicts cannot remain on a students schedule without permission from the students college.

Waitlist Feature (7 # # on MARS)
Waitlisting a course that conflicts in time with another course or waitlisting a course that if received, would allow a student to be enrolled in credits above the maximum credit restriction requires a student to use the Action Code 7 # # while in Registration/Schedule Adjustment.
This procedure only allows an override on the registration blocks for waitlisted courses. If the course is received and confirmed, students must adjust their schedule in accordance with University policy by 4:30 p.m. of the following workday. If the schedule is not adjusted, a drop will be processed on the received waitlist course.
Additionally, 7 # # allows students to drop a section of a previously waitlisted course, and provides a listing of waitlist courses.

Adding a Course to the Waitlist
1. Uses Waitlist Action Code - 7 # #.
2. Press Action Code 2, Index Number, # #
The course/section has now been added to the waitlist. Listen carefully, you will be prompted to waitlist 5 additional sections if you so desire. The processor will warn you when there are registration blocks associated with your waitlist requests. These will be overridden by the processor. If you receive the course, you MUST resolve the problem by 4:30 p.m. of the following workday to comply with University policy. Failure to adjust your schedule will result in the received class being dropped.

Dropping a Course from the Waitlist
1. Use Waitlist Action Code - 7 # #.
2. Press Action Code 3, INDEX NUMBER, # #. The exact course/section has been deleted from your waitlist record.

OR

Press Action Code 3, # #. MARS will list all your waitlist courses/sections. Listen carefully. The system will prompt you to drop the desired waitlist course/section.
